"Poop on the Potty"
My kid’s a genius! No really, he is! He is actually potty training himself. On Tuesday, September 14th, he actually told me that he wanted to go “poop in the potty”. I was so overwhelmed with excitement that I got a ginormous smile on my face and did what every mother of a 2 year old would do….. I confirmed that he indeed did want to go “poop in the potty”. I did this by repeating his announcement back to him as a question- “So, are you telling mommy that you want to go poop in the potty?” (I swear I feel like I have spent the last year repeating every single thing that Caleb says back to him…ya know, just to verify that I understand what he is saying and that we are on the same page.) So, to make a long story short he said “yes”, we went into the bathroom, he got up on the potty and did his business. When he was finished he yelled at me to come take a peak. Kids are so funny! I congratulated him and told him how he was such a “big boy” and awarded him with a miniature Reese’s cup.
He has continued this for the last 3 days…..the Reese cups might be a really good motivation but I give Caleb all the glory! My little man is growing up so fast and this is just one more milestone that separates him from being my little baby. As a mother, I feel so torn. One part of me is super proud of his achievements while the other part is sad because it means he’s growing up and becoming self-sufficient! It’s just one more thing that he doesn’t need mommy’s help with, sniff sniff. But, all in all I am so proud of him. Wish me luck that this potty pattern continues…sure would be nice to scratch diapers off the monthly budget.
